GCC Workshop is the technicians' camera app for Garage Command Centre, the garage management dashboard from MOTvault. A technician uses it to attach photos, short videos, the mileage, the MOT result and a note to a car that is booked into their garage's diary that day. This page explains, in plain words, what the app handles and where it goes.
Who is responsible
The app and the Garage Command Centre service are provided by Joshua Law, trading as MOTvault, a sole trader registered in England, ICO registration ZC103739.
The garage you link the app to is the data controller for its customers' information: the bookings, registrations and the photos of their vehicles belong to that garage's records. MOTvault processes that information on the garage's behalf, under the garage's Garage Command Centre agreement.
What the app collects
- Your first name (or whatever you type as your name), so the office can see who took a photo. It is stored on the phone and sent with each upload.
- Photos and videos you choose to take or attach, the mileage, MOT result and notes you enter. These are sent straight to the garage's own workshop server and saved against the booking you picked.
- Your garage name and the workshop code, stored on the phone so you do not have to type them every time.
To show you today's diary the app receives, from the garage's server, each booking's registration, make and model, appointment time and the customer's first name only. It never receives a customer's surname, phone number, email or address, and it never receives prices.
What the app does not do
- No advertising, no analytics, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs of any kind.
- No access to your photo library unless you tap "Choose from this phone", and then only the files you pick.
- Photos taken inside the app are not saved to your phone's camera roll.
- No location data. No contacts. No background activity.
Where the information goes
Uploads go over HTTPS to the garage's workshop server, which runs on Cloudflare Workers, and are stored with the garage's Garage Command Centre data on Supabase. Access to a garage's data is restricted to that garage. The garage's office staff see the photos in their dashboard and attach them to the customer's job.
How long it is kept
Photos, videos, notes and mileage form part of the garage's vehicle and job record and are kept for as long as the garage keeps that record, in line with its own retention policy and legal obligations. Nothing is kept on the phone except your name, the garage name and the workshop code, and the app removes all three when you tap Unlink this phone in Settings.
Your rights
If you are a garage customer and want to see, correct or delete information about you or your vehicle, contact the garage that did the work; they hold the record. If you are a technician using the app, you can remove everything the app stores on your phone at any time from Settings › Unlink this phone. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Children
GCC Workshop is a workplace tool for garage staff and is not intended for anyone under 16.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it and the new version is published here.
